ECCO wins two prestigious awards

Innovative technology and sustainability are keywords for ECCO OUTDOOR’s two award winners: the ECCO SOFT 7 TRED W, which won the 2019 ISPO award in the Outdoor category for Hiking and Trekking Footwear, and DriTan™ by ECCO Leather, the winner of the 2019 Scandinavian Outdoor Award in the Technology category.

ECCO SOFT 7 TRED W

Every year, the international sporting goods trade fair, ISPO, honours the most exceptional sporting goods with an ISPO Award. A jury consisting of independent sports business professionals evaluates several hundred entries following clearly defined criteria. This year, the jury voted the ECCO SOFT 7 TRED W the winner of the Outdoor category for Hiking and Trekking Footwear.

More than 40 judges from 12 countries and three continents chose ECCO SOFT 7 TRED W as their winner for its reflective and innovative ECCO Tectonic Luum leather – an ECCO leather which combines the natural character of the leather with reflective technology, allowing the shoe to catch reflections throughout darker hours. As the name indicates, the shoe is based on ECCO’s iconic sneaker, the ECCO SOFT 7.

ECCO SOFT 7 TRED W will be available for sale in the 2019 Autumn Winter season.

DriTan™ by ECCO Leather

ECCO’s innovative water-efficient tanning process, DriTan™ by ECCO Leather, took home the 2019 Scandinavian Outdoor Award in the Technology category. By totally removing 20 litres of water used per hide in the tanning process, ECCO Leather has achieved a process with less contaminated wastewater and minimised sludge buildup. DriTan™, which has already been introduced at ECCO’s tannery in the Netherlands, is a crucial step in a long series of actions to make leather production increasingly sustainable.
