ECCO Indonesia facilitates new fire station

What does a fire station have to do with a premier shoe brand, you might ask? Actually a whole lot. ECCO’s facilities in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, now host a fire station built to serve the local community.

ECCO Indonesia, which comprises a shoe factory and a tannery, is located in Sidoarjo, a city in East Java, Indonesia. Although Sidoarjo is the 10th biggest city in East Java, until recently there were only four fire stations in the city. Now, an additional fire station has been built to shorten the response time towards emergencies, especially in the local sub district. The fire station will also serve as an education point for students, surrounding communities, and ECCO employees.

The fire station, which was inaugurated September 2018, is the result of a cooperation between the government of Sidoarjo and ECCO Indonesia. On a site of 340 m2, this emergency fire station was built through funding from ECCO Indonesia, while the government of Sidoarjo provides the fire engines and fire brigade personnel, which is stand-by 24/7.
