Ernie Els visits ECCO Tønder Campus

ECCO Ambassador Ernie Els visited the Golf Lab for the first time this month to discuss a range of potential future collaborations and developments.

The former world number one, who has four major victories to his name, has been competing in a range of ECCO shoes recently on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, including designs such as ECCO COOL and ECCO CASUAL HYBRID.

Ernie Els, 47, was taken on a tour of the whole ECCO Tønder campus and its facilities by Dieter Kasprzak, Advisor and the mind behind ECCO Golf and the Golf team.

The South African World Golf Hall of Famer, affectionately known as ‘The Big Easy’ due to his 6ft 3ins stature and fluid golf swing, is one of only six golfers to have won both the U.S. Open and The Open Championship on two separate occasions.

Els triumphed at the U.S. Open in 1994 at Oakmont and in 1997 at Congressional, while also emerging victorious in The Open Championship in 2002 at Muirfield and in 2012 at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Other career highlights for the South African include topping the 2003 and 2004 European Tour Order of Merit, and winning the World Match Play Championship a record seven times.
