All ECCO tanneries have achieved Leather Working Group (LWG) certification

Always seeking to drive positive change in our own production and taking responsibility also in the leather making industry, ECCO has been an active member of the Leather Working Group since 2010. Committed to driving continuous improvement and improving transparency, this not-for-profit multistakeholder initiative champions environmental best practices in the tanning industry along with its more than 2400+ stakeholders across the globe.

ECCO has tanneries in Indonesia, the Netherlands, Thailand, and China, all of which have achieved Leather Working Group certification.

ECCO’s four tanneries are audited by Leather Working Group (LWG) approved auditors on a bi-yearly basis to assess our environmental performance and look into e.g. our energy consumption, proportion of waste recycled etc. They continuously tighten their standards to induce improvements in the environmental measures taken by the industry.

All of ECCO’s tanneries receive excellent ratings with Gold awards to our tanneries in Indonesia, Thailand, and China, and our tannery in the Netherlands is Silver rated.
