How do you support lifelong education in an area where books and modern learning facilities are hard to come by? To ECCO in Indonesia, the solution was creative. A small mobile library was constructed in a manner perfectly suited to deliver books and learning technology to kindergartens and schools in the local Sidoarjo district. Since March 2018, the mobile library has reached practically all corners of the 600 km2 district.

In an opening ceremony, Chairman of ECCO Leather Dieter Kasprzak today cut the ribbon on ECCO’s new high-tech leather cutting plant in Xiamen. The new plant is amongst the most advanced cutting plants in the world with state-of-the-art technology and a reduced environmental footprint.

”I Rebel, therefore I exist.” Albert Camus’ famous words were the key inspiration for a batch of students from Design School Kolding who spent the past semester designing shoes and bags with ECCO. For the 6th year in a row, Design School Kolding partnered up with ECCO to launch an ECCO Shoe and Bag Design Course, inviting the students into the practical reality of ECCO’s world of design and shoemaking.

The students from Design School Kolding will spend part of their semester designing a shoe or a bag collection under the theme ‘Stages of Rebellion.’

This week, ECCO reopened its OMOTESANDO Store in Tokyo’s trendsetting city of Harajuku. The store is ECCO’s first to have the new fused concept of “Premium Concept X Tannery Exclusive.”

A collaboration between ECCO and Saks Potts has led to the development of an ECCO Shape boot, sculpted in premium leather and with a bold design that celebrates personality as well as convenience. The design is part of their new Collection 12, which was revealed this week at a fashion show held at the Copenhagen Fashion Week.

ECCO’s summer camp for children with heart diseases is action-packed; rappelling, fire eating and a close encounter with bird spiders, snakes and cockroaches are just some of the activities designed to invite the children to challenge their comfort zones. 33 children from all parts of Denmark are spending week 32 at ECCO’s Conference Centre in Tønder, Denmark, to network, break down boundaries, and strengthen their self-esteem.

This fall, ECCO Walkathon once again launches a series of charity walks, encouraging people to get together and walk for a good cause. ECCO donates €1 for every kilometre the participants walk, and the money raised goes to the SOS Children’s Villages and the Danish Heart Association.

Four upcoming designers have developed their final projects in close cooperation with ECCO. Ranging from trendy sneakers for teenagers to new disassembly methods for shoes, the four designers have a diverse focus. However, they all have one common aim: to contribute to the development of design.

This week, ECCO Leather opened its latest showroom in Tokyo, Japan.

Shoes made from seaweed and leather scraps? This is not your typical ECCO shoe - nevertheless, it is the result of a cooperation between Design School Kolding and ECCO.
